Protagonist? Antagonist?
In the story, suspense keeps on building up. Andy Evans is being treated as the
protagonist while Melinda Sordino is being treated as the antagonist because no
one knows what had happened at the party.
Andy Evans raped Melinda, so she called the cops and the cops had to
close down the party. Since
Melinda was still in shock since she had just gotten raped, she was not able to
“speak” and say what happened. She
was then hated and Andy Evans got out of the picture. So Melinda stayed as the “antagonist” to everyone until the
end of the story when she finally spoke to say what really happened. At last, Melinda became the protagonist
and everyone knew that Andy Evans was the antagonist and hated one. Speak is a book to read!!!
I have heard positive comments from this book. I can see that the major problem is about speaking and revealing the truth. As you stated, Melinda's problem here is about explaining what really happened.Very often, when someone gets hurt, they prefer not to speak about it because it will worsen the situation. I believe that talking about the problem will make the person feel better and be able to forget about the past. Holding it in will destroy the person. As you mentioned, towards the end of the book she stands up and speaks about the problem;I believe that it is the only way to move on in life.

heyyyyyy girllll
DeleteHow did she have the courage to tell everyone what really happened. Because she was shocked at first, when she just got raped, that she couldn't talk to anyone to tell them what really happened. So she just had the confidence out of no where to tell everyone what really happened and why she had called the cops.
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog since the beginning and I am glad that she finally has had the courage to speak about what happened. I am truly considering reading this book after reading your blog. Thanks G
